The typical turquoise blue of the pottery, a major export item, is obtained by mixing of crude copper oxide made from old copper scraps. Even when 80% of the production from these units is being exported, lack of standardization and proper specification found the markets getting saturated. Also, repetitive procedures have resulted in low productivity and higher cost of production, making it less competitive abroad. The craft promises an important source of livelihood for the manufacturers and export income for the state and the country.
